Not so much a new category as a set of rambles. ‘For the Love Of…’ posts will be in the ‘Ways of Escape‘ category and will just cover random things that I like to do and which do not involve MS in any way or form.
Posts can be anything from cooking to sitting in the garden and watching the world go by. Just random things. I have to love them. Or like them a lot at least. Not the kind of things that perhaps I will write a lot about or consistently. Or maybe I will? If I want to.
Delight
This is perhaps inspired by a book that means a lot to me but which I dip in and out of. Delight by J.B. Priestley. When I was first diagnosed I read a poem by Wilfred Owen everyday, just to keep my mind a little sharp. I knew things were slowing down up there, this was to help keep it sharp. Then I moved to Delight. Because it was about the simple joys in life that did not need to be a huge effort or some sort of vindication. The pleasure of a gin and tonic on a warm evening… The sort of things that are no work, no effort. But they bring the joy in life.
I am still plodding through Delight. But every time I pick it up, I feel happy. Nothing earth-shattering. Just comforting. That’s what he wanted in Post War Britain. That’s what it gives me now.
For the Love Of…
I am no J.B. Priestley. But I just want to write. To put things on… paper. Well, in the Cloud at least. Like all bloggers, I am selfish and write about what I want. I am also still useless as a blogger. This post won’t be pushed on Facegram, Instabook, mail or anywhere. It is just here. Just here to say what I am targeting with this set of posts.
I will have fun writing them. That is quite enough.
